The Ballad Begins...

Did you know during the American Revolution almost every company had a "smart one" or poet who recorded the day's triumphs or defeats in songs and ballads?  It's true! 

In that spirit, Mr. Grin presents: "The Ballad of Monkey Town" (a work in progress)

• Hark, hark the siren song is heard
• of Monkey Town and friends.
• Sock Musty is our blogger true
• on him you can depend.

Musty

• He writes of exploits fun and fair
• here monkeys rule the day.
• But no one is allowed to frown
• unless you're sewn that way.

The Beast

• Now let us go against our foe;
• "The Beast" they call her name.
• She snores and sheds her stripey hair;
• we think she's mighty lame.

The Lady

• The Lady is a friend of ours;
• she loves us to the core.
• She saves us from the internet,
• and yards, and fleas and stores.

Speedy and Barbette!

• Our Monkey Town has lovers true;
• They're Speedy and Barbette.
• We hope they work their troubles out;
• Could wedding bells be next?

Wise Monkey

• Wise Monkey, he's the silent type,
• but don't be fooled by that.
• Deep thinkers often hide a lot
• beneath their silly hats.

Lurline Turtle

• Sweet Monkey Town has turtles, too;
• they wear their crowns with pride.
• And if you ask them nicely
• they might take you for a ride!

Baby with a Big Head

• Dear gentle youth our "Baby" is
• so simple, spry and true.
• He must stop asking Santa, though
• for homework overdue.

• Allied by wool, and buttons too;
• let Monkey Town rejoice!
• That TypePad and the Internet
• have given us all voice!

Mr. Grin

• For all the places ever known
• Monkey Town is oddest.
• That Mr. Grin's a talented sock
• But also very modest!
